Filling mitre joins on architrave

Hi all,

What would be the best product to use to fill the mitre joins on architraves prior to painting. Would wood filler or no more gaps be ok or  something else?

Thanks in advance

Re: Filling mitre joins on architrave

Hi @Alan__,

You are likely to get the best results from using a wood filler and then sanding it smooth to blend in with the surrounding area. In a pinch, you can use Selleys 410g Paintable Sealant Paint Over White, though you might still be able to see the join once painted.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell

Thanks @MitchellMc ,

Could the same wood filler be used to fill the door knob hole our would there be a better alternative?

Re: Filling mitre joins on architrave

Hi @Alan__,

The doorknob hole looks like it's a little too big for the Earl's Multifill.

Instead, I'd suggest using Builders Bog to fill the doorknob hole. It is a two-part filler that sets incredibly hard and is better suited to larger fills.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
