Is there Deta Smart Switches for fridge and washing machines?

Is there Deta Smart Switches for fridge and washing machines?

I'm thinking of upgrading my plugs to Deta. Smart Swtiches.

But can I upgrade the plugs used for fridges/washing machine/dryer/dishwasher?

I understand that these white goods runs >10 amp. And the Deta Smart Switch only support up to 10A.

Thank you!

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Zac1928. It's great to have you join us and many thanks for your question on Deta smart switches.

As far as I understand, a standard powerpoint has a max of 10amps, the same as the DETA White Gloss Grid Connect Smart Double Touch PowerPoint. However, you've mentioned switches in your post, so was your enquiry about the DETA White Gloss Grid Connect Smart Single Gang Touch Light Switch? I also note you've mentioned plugs, so it might be the DETA Grid Connect Smart Rewireable Plug.

All of the Grid Connect powerpoints, switches and plugs are 10amp. If your appliances run greater than 10amps, this sounds like a question best posed to an electrician.

Let me tag @CSParnell to see if he has any thoughts.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for this
I understand the standard wall power points are 10A

But are the powerpoint used by residential fridge, washing machine, dryers & dishwashers also 10A?

I don't think I'm allowed to unscrew my power points
And I don't want to call the electrician into my house to inspect either.

I'm looking for ways to monitoring my white good appliances energy usage.

Re: Is there Deta Smart Switches for fridge and washing machines?

Most household appliances such as fridges, washing machines, dryers and dishwashers operate off a 10amp powerpoint @Zac1928.

Instead of changing your powerpoint it sounds like simply plugging in an Arlec White Grid Connect Smart Plug in Socket with Energy Meter would provide the information on energy usage you are seeking. Pop it on your current powerpoint and plug your appliance into it.

Hi @Zac192

Simple fact is that you are not allowed to change the power outlets yourself and there are potential penalties if you are caught doing so. Question is will you get caught! Frankly the cost of putting smart meters on each and every one of your devices isn't worth the expense. It would be more worthwhile to pay an electrician to install a useage device at your powerboard (I had one installed when I installed Solar power so I can see all usage and savings).
