If your house isn't orientated for circulating cool air from sea breezes
Then Ive attached a simulation that shows air flow through a front open window doesnt necessarily reach your other rooms ie Family, Meals & living areas
In fact the air hardly makes it to the back rooms
A simple cost effective solution to get airflow to the back rooms is via louvre vents and ducting from directly above through ceiling spaces a Great DIY project that will save you on Cooling Costs

@BradThey are all natural air displacement systems and thanks for bringing up other DIY systems
Whirly Birds and solar vents are mechanical they have controlled flow (ie fans, pumps,etc)
The vent in the above system is fitted to an dutch gable and can be an architectural feature, there are no moving parts
it just relies on redirecting natural breezes.
BTW these are Multiphysics Simulations they are a great way to analyze & Illustrate not only airflow/ventilation, but also vibration ,noise, stress/strain, pressure, thermal, particle and any other physical real world (time related) effect at the initial design stages.
IMO a great design tool
