Hi I have a indoor tiled feature wall with semi porous wall tiles, these are matt but I would like to know if a gloss or semi gloss clear coat can be added to enhance natural light/ tiles are brown/ Brick tones with horizontal slat style texture - the coat would highlight this area / if can do what product?as it reflects natural light and the location is a focus point when entering the room
Hi @fab01,
Welcome to the community. It's fantastic to have you join us. Well done with the feature wall, it's looking amazing and I'm sure members are looking forward to seeing the finished result.
Let me tag regular contributors @ProjectPete and @Mathy to see if they might like to kick off the discussion and share how they would approach this job. Otherwise I am sure @MitchellMc will be happy to assist when he is back online tomorrow morning.
Please don't hesitate to post anytime you have something to share with the community or need a hand with a project around the house and garden.
Thanks,
Jason
Hi @fab01
I have spoken to one of our brands Crommelins who specialise is stone/slate coatings. They recommend Crommelin 1l Slate Sealer which is a solvent-based product. It will have a wet-look and achieves a gloss finish. As this product is solvent-based it needs to be applied in an area with adequate ventilation. The manufacturer stresses that you should do a test section (preferably on a spare tile) to see the finish and understand the amount of ventilation which will be needed. A floor fan will assist in providing air-flow through your home whilst applying the product.
The second product which might be suitable is Crommelin 4l Water-Based Slate Sealer which is a water-based product. It will not have a wet-look and needs to have multiple applications to achieve a gloss finish. As this product is water-based ventilation is not of particular concern. It would also be a great idea to do a test section to see if you are happy with the finish of the product.
If you would like additional information about these products or have questions, please let me know.
Mitchell
