Hi @Bunnings team, can you advise if this product https://www.bunnings.com.au/buildex-12-24-x-68mm-superteks-series-500-hex-head-metal-screw-50-pack_p... is ok if already used for PFC/Steel beam to timber fixing as part of framing work?
Also if there is any link to tech spec which mentions about steel to timber connection.
Many thanks
Hello @Rond
The Buildex 12 - 24 x 68mm SuperTEKS Series 500 Hex Head Metal Screw as mentioned in the text on the page says that the screws are designed for use in thick steel (hot rolled steel) from 3.0mm to 12.0mm. Thus, if your PFC/steel falls within these measurements the screws should be able to penetrate it.
However, in regards to framing work it's best to confer with your draftsperson/engineer to make sure that you are using the correct screw. Especially if the screw needs to be able to hold a certain weight.
Here is a link to more information about the SuperTEKS Series 500: Buildex

Hi @EricL
Thanks for replying to my query.
In our situation, these screws are already done. Please see some photos.
Due to the frames inspection, engineer need to re-look at the CTRS/spacing intervals done already between these screws, so engineer has asked if these screws are suitable for steel to timber fixing. Engineer need to use this info for their re-calculations to check if spacing done already is fine or not, as changing the spacing needs drilling and timber cut which builder want to avoid.
I hope above query is bit clear now .
Thank you.
Hi @Rond,
Those screws are designed for metal to metal fixing. That's not to say that they couldn't be used in this application, but you'd need your engineer to verify that from their technical data.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
