what stain should I use on outdoor furniture that has been puttied and is made of pine?

I have filled dog bite marks on an outdoor wooden garden setting. I am just wondering what would be the best stain to use and the best product to match the existing colour of this outdoor setting.
Thanks Alfie.

Hi @alfie

You asked for the best stain .

/My  best prefered stain and sun protection and long life protection is.

https://www.bunnings.com.au/sikkens-1l-cetol-hlse-light-oak-timber-finish-1l_p1521176

It can  come in differnt colours and timber tones this one is light oak, (bottom label number is  006)

It can  come in  clear  look  for  the numbers (bottom label 000 as that means  clear no stain)

The filled bite marks addd character to the wood

Hi @alfie,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.

Unfortunately, matching timber stains is notoriously difficult as the underlying timber has an effect on the colour.

The only way to get a truly uniform coating is to sand the entire surface back to bare timber and then recoat.

Either of the options, @Jewelleryrescue has mentioned will look similar, but there will likely be some slight colour variation.

I'd give the Sikkens 1L Cetol HLSe Light Oak Timber Finish a try. Start with a test patch and see what you think before committing to the rest. Apply it in thin coats until the desired colour is achieved.

Have a look at How To Renew Your Timber Outdoor Setting for some additional guidance.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob
