Hi all, hoping someone has some advice on what I might be able to do to get the screening colours to match on the left of image. The old one is sun damaged and the new is a darker colour but wondering if I could use a timber stain to get them to a more similar colour? Or maybe I should spray paint them? No idea really. Any tips welcome. Also, there is going to be a tile feature where the frame is / just covered up a strange Buddha feature that the last owners had there.
Hi @handyman35,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
These screens are made from reeds which are not a great medium for staining as they are more of a grass than timber. Think bamboo versus a tree. You could try using a stain, but I can't guarantee it will match or even look particularly good.
I think spray painting the screens is a better option as you can guarantee a more uniform look. Check out the Dulux Duramax range which comes in a variety of colours and finishes so you can tailor things to your liking.
Alternatively, any exterior paint such as Dulux Weathershield, Taubmans All Weather or Wattyl Solagard, are great options for painting your screens. To get the best result, you will want to use a paint sprayer.
Allow me to tag @Dave-1, @Noyade and @JoeAzza for their thoughts.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
