What treated Pine for shed base?

Hello guys!

I am planning to assemble a shed (build-a-shed) and I will need to use a bit of timber to level it on the ground (concrete with a bit of a fall towards one side) and on one of the walls. So, I was looking at some youtube videos and it was said that it needs to be pressure treated wood to avoid mold, etc, specially on the ground. Is it the same as the treated pine we have at bunnings?

Thank you for your thoughts!

Merry Christmas

Re: treated pine

Hi @hacruz

@JacobZ  would  probably know the  finer details on  treated  pine processing.  But H4 treated  pine  will work in the ground in wet areas too some what.  H3 is more above  ground.  I might have said all treated pine  put under pressure to  get the  treatment in?

Re: treated pine

Hi @hacruz,

Pressure-treating timber is done so the treatment penetrates to the centre of the timber as opposed to being painted on the outside of it. The term pressure treated refers to how the treatment is applied to the timber, but not specifically the type of treatment.

As @Jewelleryrescue mentioned, H4-treated timber is what you'll want to use as it is treated for direct contact with the earth/concrete.

Have a read through How to choose the right timber for the job for some further guidance.
