Hi,
Im attaching 100 x 200 x 2.4 sleepers on top of my retaining wall which is treated pine 75 x 200 to provide some seating. What size screws would you use to secure in? I was thinking 150mm?? Thanks
Hi @Ryan1980,
Thank you for your question about selecting a screw for attaching sleepers to the top of your retaining wall.
150mm long screws sound perfect for this application as they will drive through the 100mm sleeper and embed themselves 50mm into the sleeper below giving you an extremely solid connection.
My suggestion is to use the Buildex 150mm Climacoat Star Drive Landscape Screws as they are galvanized to resist corrosion as well as coated to resist the chemicals used in treated pine.
These screws are self-drilling, but I always suggest a pilot hole to reduce the chance of splitting, however small that chance may be. I'd suggest grabbing a 5.0mm Long Series Drill Bit to drill your pilot holes.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
