Hello
I have purchased a maple veneered external door and would like to know whether the Feast Watson Timber Primer is the correct primer for this door.
Thanks for your help.
Hello @yvonnedeacon12
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about paint primer.
Feast Watson penetrating wood preserver primes new timber prior to applying stain or varnish. If you are staining or varnishing the surface of your door this primer is safe to use. But if you are painting the door with a solid colour, I suggest using Dulux 1Step Prep Primer, Sealer & Undercoat 1L. Please note that this is a water-based primer so the paint you must use for the topcoat should be water-based as well.

Hello Eric
Could You please tell me if this varnish is compatible with the primer above as I have bought this and I’m not sure whether it is water based as recommended.
thank you for your help.
Yvonne
Hello @yvonnedeacon12
I've just been in contact with the Feast Watson technical team, and the Feast Watson 1L Gloss Clear Weatherproof Timber Varnish is compatible with the Feast Watson 1L Timber Primer. Both products are oil-based so they will work together. My best advice to is to make sure to give the primer enough time to cure before you put the varnish on top.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
