What pergola roofing material?

Hi.  I want to construct a pergola roof.  Pergola is 1830mm x 3460mm.  I am looking for roof material that allows light and is economical.  I was looking at polycarbonate (multiwall) for this.  What material do I need and how much will it cost.  The wooden fram is ready.

Re: Pergola Roofing Material

Hi @TM31,

Thank you for your question about pergola roofing materials.

Check out Suntuf's range of polycarbonate roofing.

Their Clear Corrugated Polycarbonate Roofing Sheets are a great option that comes in a variety of lengths for whatever orientation your pergolas roofing sheets need to run.

The quantity of materials required will depend on which way the sheets are running. If you let me know which way you want the roofing to run, I would be happy to calculate the number of sheets you'll require.

These Suntuf 50mm One Shot Timber Polycarbonate Sheeting Screws are the recommended screw for attaching the Suntuf corrugated panels to timber frames. Once again, the quantity required will be determined by the orientation of the sheets and the number of purlins they are screwed to.

Check out this Suntuf Installation Guide for some guidance on the process and materials required.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob

Re: Pergola Roofing Material

Hi  @TM31

I would  use the  Clear Corrugated Polycarbonate Roofing Sheets as @JacobZ  suggested as they are marginally !!!  more wind proof than the multi wall sheets.  I find  once the multiwall sheets are bent they stay damaged and limp  but if your timber frame  has plenty  of timber supports and a all round timber  edge to attach to it should be  good to  go.

I find the polycarbonate sheets a little flimsy these days as well (thin) but the corregations and folds  strengthen them to an ok standard but hail  can  hole them.
