Hi i am building a floating deck that is 3.6m X 3.6m with a walkway of 3.1m X 1m adjoining the right side and i wanted to know what framing timber i need i will be using the concrete free standing footings and it is being built on dirt.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @steve0. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about building a deck.
Typically, something like Treated Pine Outdoor Timber Framing 90 x 45mm would be used to construct a low-level deck. However, it really depends on how much height you have to work with and how solid you'd like your deck to be. I'm building a 3.0m X 3.0m deck now, and that's what I'm using. I'll include an image and my plan below.
You should find this guide useful: How to build a low-level deck.

Hey Mitchell,
what app did you use for your framing design? It looks great.
thanks
Hi @rwa1994,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
@MitchellMc uses a free software called Tinkercad to create his 3d renders.
Myself and @EricL use a similar software called SketchUp.
They are both easy to use and are very handy for designing and planning D.I.Y. projects.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
