Can anyone tell me what size and depth my footings need to be for exterior steel stringers
only going up 5 steps about a meter they are the concrete in ones
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @jamaka. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about footings.
The footing size and depth for your exterior steel stringers will depend on factors like soil type, load requirements, and local building codes.
A good starting point is to dig footings at least 300mm wide and 450mm deep, depending on soil conditions. In softer or sandy soil, you may need to go deeper to reach firm ground. Adding some reinforcing bars into the concrete can also improve stability.
If you’re in an area with high moisture levels or reactive clay soil, deeper footings may be needed to prevent shifting. It’s always best to check with your local council or a structural engineer if you’re unsure about specific requirements for your site.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
