The Bunnings Workshop community can help with your home improvement projects.
Hello Community Members,
One of our next projects as family will be a sliding gate that will divide the front and a rear section for privacy.
I will be welding and spray painting my own frames and lining it with timber.
The part I have hardly any experience on and honestly I remember helping about 10 years ago was a sliding gate.
If any of the community members have any advice or can point me to the correct hardware in Bunnings that I will need eg slider, runners ECT.
I'm looking at a 3.9Lm long sliding gate.
Any advice would be appreciated.
And to all the community have a great weekend and enjoy your DIY projects.
Kind regards Rob ๐
Let me tag today's cover star in @PJA as I recall he might have done something similar.
Perhaps @JasonD, @redracer01 and @MitchellM might also be able to draw on the expertise of their networks...
Jason
Unfortunately, Bunnings supplies are a bit light-on
Here, find someone similar

Thank you @BIM_Engineer
I am going to construct the gate myself and install it.
It's just advice on installing I'm after.
Thank you for the Leeds though
Kind regards Rob ๐
Bunnings don't have the supplies/hardware ie rollers, tracks, RHS Tube, etc
Their sections cater for hobbyists as does workshop. hth
Good morning @Jason mate hope you had a great weekend.
Sorry to flood your inbox.
I posted for some help a little while ago for anyone who has had experience in the installation of Sliding Gates with or with a motor. I intend to put a motor in, but if anyone you may know in the community who possibly could help I would really appreciate it as I will be doing it all myself other than the electrical of course.
I know how to construct the gate and fence and fit normally but never done a slider.
Maybe @ProjectPete might know how or know someone.
Appreciate any help
Have a great day ๐
Kind regards Rob ๐
Only done sliding doors myself...

I would look at solar as an option unless you have an outdoor power point handy.
Absolute ripper of an idea @Brad about Solar. No sparky I guesse. ๐
I'm pretty confident about everything but some extra reassurance about where all the hardware for the sliders go ECT would be great ๐
