How to improve retaining wall?

I have this horrible retaining wall right outside windows.  Any ideas how to improve look. I’ve tried growing bromeliads in gaps but didn’t last. House roof almost meets top of wall and a lot of debris falls down from huge trees above.

Re: Retaining Wall

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Pat25. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about a retaining wall.

You could improve the look of the retaining wall by attaching some exterior screening panels across the area. These panels would help block the view and could provide a more aesthetically pleasing outcome. They are relatively easy to install and could likely be done in a day for an instant result. Take a look at our range of options that might suit your space and needs.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: How to improve retaining wall?

Hi @Pat25,

Hope you found Mitch's suggestion helpful.

Where are you based? I wondered whether you might like other suggestions for planting options that might drape down and cover the bricks?

Re: How to improve retaining wall?

Thanks Jason

i did put plants in along the top which are still there but because the space between the wall & the roof is only 46cm, so I have to keep them cut back to let the light in.

The panels that were suggested worked out too expensive and not the right size.

So, I’ve decided to put up artificial greenery which I will be getting later this week.  When done, I’ll send another photo.  So fingers crossed.

Re: Retaining Wall

I’ve received the fake ivy and attached with edging steaks and plastic ties. Rather fiddly due to limited space to work in but sometimes it pays to be small!

Re: Retaining Wall

Hello @Pat25

Thank you very much for posting that update. The image outside your window looks much better than the retaining wall. My aunt did something similar and placed a PVC mural of a flower garden outside. Since the windows are one right after the other, I also suggest thinking about putting in pictures of what you might see when on a train.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: Retaining Wall

Evening @Pat25

That looks pretty good  Any chance you could show us a photo from outside that shows down the side? I like the outside the window thinking  I was going to suggest mirrors in some kind of way, even behind the ivory would give another dimension to it.
