Need to restain my deck, just trying to get an understanding on whether its worthwhile giving it a light sand on the lower step
in particular, given its exposed to the elements (photos attached).
Also hoping to retain the same dark chocolate colour, will any stainer be ok to achieve this look?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @stefalou. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about coating a deck.
It looks like the timber on the lower step is starting to deteriorate due to exposure to the elements. At this stage, it’s likely best to give it a light sand to restore the finish and smooth out any rough patches or worn areas. Do you happen to know what type of coating was applied previously? It would be ideal to stick with the same kind of stain or finish to maintain the same dark chocolate colour and overall look.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
