Outdoor kitchen build

Outdoor kitchen build

Hi!

We are building a built in outdoor kitchen in our courtyard. We have the frame completed and a photo of the inspiration for our doors. We will have bigger spacing between each wooden piece on the doors. As we are making it seamless with the aircon, we will have the same wood pieces but no backing where the aircon is for airflow. We are thinking of using Primed Pine 42 x 11 H3 Design Pine F/J Primed DAR Dressed All for the wooden pieces but not sure what to use for the backing to shape the door for them to stick onto?

We are going to (attempt!) to do a white concrete top for the outdoor kitchen and put strip lighting underneath.

Open to any suggestions!

Re: Outdoor kitchen

Hello @emmamay

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's marvellous to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about your outdoor kitchen.

If you are planning to use the Hume 42 x 11mm 2.7m Moulding H3 Treated Pine FJ Primed DAR you can use the same material as a horizontal brace to keep the structure together. Once you've assembled the panel you can use it to cover the side of the aircon unit as well. The method to keep the door from skewing is to place the screws in an offset manner and in opposite directions. I've placed a sketch below to give you an idea of how to put it together.

Please keep in mind that before you put the doors on your frame, I recommend drawing it on paper first so that you'll see how much you'll need to level the other set of doors that is under the barbecue. This will give you a uniform look and give the cabinets a nice professional finish.

Let me call on our experienced members @TedBear and @JoeAzza for their recommendations.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Re: Outdoor kitchen build

@emmamay Looks like it will be a great bbq area, just a suggestion for the aircond cover/door, please make sure you allow enough gap for air circulation, when installing the panel for the Aircond you could hinge it from the bottom attached to a gas strut or chain and latch to allow more air circulation during use.
