Hi there,

Our outdoor deck is looking a little dull. I want to restain it but I am trying to figure out what is already on it. Is it paint or what type of stain etc?

does anyone know how to determine what type of paint/stain is on it? Any recommendations on what product to use to bring it back to life?

Re: Outdoor deck - what laquer, paint or stain is on it?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @showse. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about coating a deck.

It appears there are at least a couple of layers of paint and/or stain on your deck. The top colour looks quite opaque, which suggests it’s likely a paint rather than a stain. To refresh the look, I’d recommend using Cabot's Timbercolour Deck Paint, as it’s designed for outdoor decks and provides a durable finish. Just be sure to follow all the directions on the can, especially for preparing previously painted surfaces, to ensure the new coat adheres properly and lasts longer.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
