We have a 25 year old patterned solid concrete patio we need to strip and reseal. What would be the best water based concrete stripper to use please? The last photo is of a patch a friend did with a water based stripper, which had to be hand painted on and worked well but it took a lot of work for us to get off, so it will be a huge job to do the whole patio that way. Any suggestions of an easier way to spread the stripper would be much appreciated, bearing in mind we have to get deep into all the crevices in the pattern of course.
Hello @Sassyjaf
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your concrete patio.
The only way I'm aware of to properly remove the sealer on your patio is to use the proper sealer stripper of that product. If you know what product was used to seal the surface of the patio, I suggest contacting that company and asking them what the proper seal stripper is to use for their product. If the incorrect product is used it could possibly stain the surface or will only partially work and turn your patio surface very sticky.
Another way to remove the sealer is to mechanically remove it using a grinder and a Josco 75mm Wire Wheel Tyre Cord Brush. Please make sure to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and mask when using this tool. One other option is to engage the services of a concrete sealing specialist. They will have the knowledge and experience to remove your current sealer in a safe manner.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
