Hi I was wondering if there was a way to block out the rain that gets through my entertainment area as when it rains puddles of water run down into my entertainment area which wets the furniture and I want to block that out too only problem I have is the posts that’s supporting the patio is on stirrups and I need to figure out how to secure it to the ground to stop the rain from getting under what would be the best solution?
Here’s some photos the first image is the side of the entertainment area, the second photo is the back of the entertainment area and the last photo is the stirrup that the posts sit on
Hi @Johno1990,
Thank you for your question.
I'm assuming from your post "How to attach joist hanger" that you are looking to mount something like a bistro blind to your patio to keep the rain out. This would work well to stop the driving rain, but it wouldn't have much of an effect on the pooling water.
To address the pooling water, you will have to add drainage at the base of the bistro blinds to collect and carry any water away to a suitable location. This can be achieved by installing drainage channels around the perimeter of your patio area and having a plumber connect them to your home's stormwater system.
I believe a combination of these two approaches will give you the best protection against rain without completely blocking any airflow through your patio.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Jacob

That's what I was thinking @JacobZ .
But a different area? A different roof?
