How to stop dripping noise in rainwater tank near bedroom?

Hi. Whilst this issue has a few suggestions like a chain hanging down the problem is to not cut into the immovable filter mesh at top of tank. So you can’t enter it. I was thinking about drilling a round hole in gutter on both sides before rainwater enters tank. Normal flow goes over the hole but when it gets to a drip it runs down the hole?. Maybe a small rubber speed hump to build the drip a bit before it goes over and through hole. Any better suggestions would be welcome as my son is getting a  large water tank echo chamber effect after rains finished and last remnants of water enters tank tank

Re: Dripping noise in raintank near bedroom

Hi @70rob,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.

I am struggling to picture how things go together, and it would be hard to offer advice without seeing the tank.

Can you upload a photo of the tank and how the downpipe runs into it? Let me know if you need a hand uploading images, I'm happy to help if required.

Stopping drips can be hard, but the answer is usually to use the surface tension of the water by giving it something to cling to instead of freefalling into the tank.

Once you've uploaded some photos, I'll assist to the best of my ability.

Jacob
