Neighbors Aircon unit is very loud and only 3-4m from that side of our house.
Want to consider applying soundproofing to the timber fence between our properties.
From researching, seems the best options are the vinyl wrap (however these are ugly) or a fibre cement sheet.
Is the fibre cement sheeting as effective as the vinyl ? as at least with that I could paint and it would present better.
Any other proven solutions ?
Thanks,
Hello @JG2
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about sound proofing your timber fence.
I suggest having a quick look at this discussion - How to soundproof or extend a fence? by @Davofit. In that discussion there were suggestions about using either plants or cement cladding. Using plants is an excellent way to get a good sound barrier, however the drawback is that it will take time until they are tall enough to provide adequate sound reduction.
The other option is cement cladding, it can be mounted onto your timber fence and can be painted over so that it blends in with the old fence colour. Once the cladding is on, it should reduce the sound of the aircon unit. Unfortunately, the top of the fence is open and there is no way to block off the ambient noise passing through the top of the fence.
