How to replace broken Mimosa Koko cantilever umbrella cord?

the cord in my mimosa Coco cantilever umbrella broke in the heavy wind recently. My mistake for not dropping the umbrella in time. I am looking for some instructions that will help me to replace the cord. Specifically how to attach a cord to the winder mechanism. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated thank you Larry

Re: instructions on replacing a broken cord in a mimosa koko cantilever unbrella

Hi @LarryW,

Unfortunately, I've reached out to the supplier, and there are no instructions available on how to replace the cord. It would be a matter of disassembling the handle mechanism and re-routing the cord through it and to the umbrella. It could be worth taking the umbrella and your proof of purchase to your local store so our team can assess it under warranty.

If you are able to show us a picture of the internal winder mechanism, we might be able to help pinpoint where the cord attaches. Let me know if you need a hand uploading images.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell

Re: instructions on replacing a broken cord in a mimosa koko cantilever unbrella

Hello Mitch.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I can see the winch mechanism and the way to fix another cord to the winch. It is similar to what you do to fix a whipper snipper cord to a whipper snipper. Unfortunately, there is no way I can get to both sides of The winch to be able to feed the cord through in the appropriate way. So I have ended up doing a clove hitch around the spindle and hope that is sufficient to hold the cord in place as I’m winding it up and down. Fingers crossed

Hi @LarryW

Thank you very much for the update. Hopefully the clove hitch will be enough to hold the cord in place.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
