Hi I am replacing my outdoor tap. No matter how hard I try I can not get it to screw in so it sits upright.  What am I doing wrong. I have put plumbers tape around thread. It’s a male thread going into a female thread   The replacement tape has a 19mm. Help needed.

Re: How to replace an outdoor garden wall tap?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @addie. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about installing a garden tap.

The orientation of the tap is governed by the number of revolutions of thread tape you apply. I can see you are bottoming out the tap, making metal-on-metal contact. This tells me that you're not adding enough thread tape. I'd suggest doing around four rotations of the tape thread, or if you're already doing four, try five. You want to add just enough thread tape that when screwing the tape on, it starts becoming tight to turn around the 3 o'clock mark and is tight at 6 o'clock. If it's not tight by 6 o'clock, remove the tap and add another revolution of tape to it.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
