I have built some above ground garden beds, and I am going to clad them in fibre cement sheeting.
I have some Dunlop FC jointing compound for where I will be joining the sheeting.
Can I also use this to lightly render / create some texture on the fibre cement sheets, before painting?
I've looked into actual renders, but they come in large quantities and are quite expensive, and I'm only doing a small area.
Or does anyone have other suggestions aout how I can add some light texture so the finish product looks more cement-like?
(I've already enquired about the DUlux textured paints, but the colour I want, Discretion, can't be tinted).
Thanks!
Hi @tal_itha,
You could use standard exterior paint but apply it with a textured roller. It will pull peaks up out of the paint and create a more rough, render-like appearance.
You could potentially use the Dunlop product, but it's obviously not designed for that purpose. Alternatively, a bag of actual render is relatively budget-friendly.
Let me tag @diy_hausdesigns, who has done some fabulous render work in the past, as they might have some suggestions. On their amazing Weatherboard fencing project they used Dunlop render and a textured roller.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
