Hi,
On my balcony have what appears to be spilled render stuck on grout between tiles.
Have tried using 50% white vinegar with 50% water spray and Sabco Soft Grip Grout Brush which does remove some but not all and takes a long time. Is there another method that could help remove stuck on residue from grout?
Thanks
Hi @MaxB,
You could try some Chemtech 1L Brick Tile And Paver Cleaner or even Builders Edge 750ml Cement 'N' Concrete Remover. Do a test section in an inconspicuous location to ensure they don't discolour your tiles or grout.
If you didn't see render become spilt in these areas, the other possibility is efflorescence, which is salts permeating out of the grout. If so, you should clean the staining and then consider sealing the grout and tiles.
Remember your PPE, including safety glasses and gloves, and follow all directions on the product packaging.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
Hi Mitchell,
Thanks for response. It was new build and was like that from completion but I would agree with you that it is most likely efflorescence. So based on this the best approach would to try some Chemtech 1L Brick Tile And Paver Cleaner or even Builders Edge 750ml Cement 'N' Concrete Remover ?
Thanks
Hello @MaxB
I propose using Builders Edge 750ml Cement 'N' Concrete Remover as this is designed to remove concrete and cement splatter. I also recommend using a QEP Professional Grout Saw and gently running it over the surface of the affected areas. Your goal is to remove only the stuck render on the grout and not dig in too deeply.
