Hi all, any suggestions on how to get rid of or considerably lessen the mould staining on the concrete apron around the exterior of our home please? The below pic shows what it looks like before and after jet washing. Thanks in advance
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @DIYer5. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about cleaning concrete.
It looks like you've already made great progress with pressure washing, which is one of the best initial steps for tackling mould on concrete. The jet washing has helped remove surface mould, but the staining left behind is likely ingrained in the concrete's pores. To address this, you'll want to turn to a chemical treatment that can more effectively break down the mould stains.
One product to consider is 30 Seconds Outdoor Cleaner, which is specifically designed for tough outdoor cleaning tasks like this. It's great for removing mould, algae, and mildew stains from concrete. Simply apply the cleaner, allow it to sit for the recommended amount of time (usually about 10-15 minutes), and then rinse it off. You might need to scrub stubborn areas with a stiff brush before rinsing.
If you're looking for an alternative, Spray and Walk Away is another excellent option. It’s easy to use and works over time with minimal scrubbing. Just spray it on, and over the next few weeks, the weather will do the work of breaking down the stains.
Also, to prevent future mould growth, you may want to consider sealing the concrete with a suitable sealer once it's clean. This will help block moisture from penetrating the surface and reduce the likelihood of mould returning.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
