How to remove head of Ryobi One+ 18V line trimmer?

Hello,

 

Does anyone have any advice for removing the head of a Ryobi One+ line trimmer? I can take the line section out, but it seems some thick stringy dried leaves from my yucca have gotten wrapped inside the spinning mechanism and now the trimmer won't start or spin. Is there a way to remove this part so I can clear it out?

In order to give you a comprehensive recommendation, would it be possible for you to post a photo of the head unit and the model number of the line trimmer that you have? The more information we have the better we can make suggestions on how to untangle the head of the line trimmer.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @FionaBrown. It's great to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about removing a Ryobi trimmer head.

The head of your Ryobi One+ 18V Line Trimmer is likely pressed onto the motor at the factory, and it's not designed to be removed. If the line is wrapped tightly around the head, you may have to carefully cut it out through the gap. However, be cautious not to damage the head or other components.

 

If the unit is still under warranty, I highly recommend not attempting to disassemble it, especially if it's a 240V model. For safety reasons, it's best to avoid opening up the machine. If the line wrapped around the head is preventing it from operating, I suggest returning the trimmer to the store where you purchased it, along with your proof of purchase, to have it assessed under warranty. This way, any issues can be resolved safely and efficiently.
