How to remove a corrugated iron fence

What’s the easiest way to remove an existing corrugated iron fence but leave the poles to grow veges along wires?
There’s a new higher, modern fence built by new neighbours behind it.

Re: Corrugated Iron Fence

Hi @mishmish

All fences held together by screws so the idea is to undo those screws and it will come apart the  poles into the ground  will remain behind.

But typically the screws are on both sides of the fence and  there may not be room to undo the  opposite side screws so I would screw   your vegtable mesh/wires directly to the fence using metal  hex head screws as they are easiest on metal

If you dismantle the fence you will have lots of metal to dispose of too.

Put masking  tape on the fence to add screws it will stop it skating around a little more.

Or a  no drill option is to put hangers on the fence and I recommend a gardening mesh hang down off the hooks. as it will  allow  any thing to  grow there.

Hang a second mesh  under the first on to reach to the ground if you need.

Re: Corrugated Iron Fence

Hi @mishmish,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.

If you have some photos of the fence, this will help our members offer more tailored advice. If you need a hand uploading images, please let me know, I'm happy to help if required.

As @Jewelleryrescue has mentioned, fences are usually held together with screws, so you'll more than likely have to look for the screws and then back them out before lifting the panels out of place. Wear gloves and protective clothing as corrugated iron can be sharp and cause lacerations if treated without due care.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob
