How to remove Intergrain natural colour oil from wood?

Hi,

we recently sealed some hardwood timber poles with Integrain ultra deck in ‘natural’ (water based) oil. We didn’t realise although it’s ‘natural’ it’s actually a brown stain. We have only put one layer on but now want to remove it and use a clear sealant in satin or something to bring the colour out. We used Ironbark wood and it’s a beautiful red but the ‘natural’ stain has turned in a bit brown.
what’s the best approach to remove the integrain water based oil and resealing with a varnish?  Hopefully avoiding using a pressure sprayer and creating a mess. Thanks so much

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @EB444. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about removing stain.

You can use Cabot's New Timber Prep to remove the stain and help return the timber to a natural finish. Stripping the stain will cause a bit of a mess, so I recommend that you lay plastic sheeting before you start to prevent the stripped stain from contacting any surrounding surfaces.

Once the stain is removed and the timber is thoroughly dry, you can coat with a varnish.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
