How to protect timber outdoor table and chairs?

Hi! Not sure if this is the right place to post this but just need some help.

i brought this table and chairs for my near 4 year old for Christmas but have yet to put them together because they need to be wood treated and I needed a drill.
Have acquired said drill, but now not sure how to go about treating them?
What is best to use? Should I paint them? Any advice would be so helpful!
Also thought it’d be helped to mention I live on the North West Coast of Tassie, so get a bit of every kind of weather. Just want them to last as long as possible

Re: How to protect timber outdoor table and chairs?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @marsii. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about sealing timber.

If this is non-treated pine, then I recommend you use a coating that will seal water out entirely instead of a penetrative oil. I'd go for a good-quality exterior paint such as Dulux Weathershield, or you could use a varnish such as Bondall 1L Satin Monocel Gold Marine Clear Timber Varnish.

Ensure you thoroughly paint all sides of the timber and then paint over any nail penetrations that could let water into the timber.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
