How to mount an outdoor ceiling fan?
I was planning on buying a Arlec DIY fan in our patio area.
The timber beam I was going to mount it to, on further look, isn't in a great spot. I'd like to have it further in the middle of the patio, but there's no timber.
Can I moung the fan directly to the roof (colorbond?). If not, what's the easiest way to mount it?

Re: Mounting an outdoor ceiling fan
Hi @bazz235,
I can't see that mounting to the Colorbond would be appropriate. Does the roof have thickness at all? Is it thicker than a standard Colorbondbond, which is a millimetre thick? If it is a top and a bottom sheet with some type of structure in between, it might be capable of supporting the fan. Since there doesn't appear to be any structure underneath the Colorbond, then I would think it is self-supporting. Perhaps it's only a foam core. You'd need a builder to assess the ceiling to see if it would be an appropriate fixing point.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
