How to mount a backing board to a Colorbond fence?

I'm looking for some advice on how to achieve the following. I need to attach a backing board to a Colorbond Fence so that pool equipment can be mounted - similar to this picture:

Any advice on how to reproduce this?

Thanks

Re: How to mount a backing board to a Colorbond fence?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @jk1234. It's tremendous to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about mounting to a Colorbond fence.

Do you have a specific type of backing board in mind for mounting to your Colorbond fence? Typically, self-driving Tek screws are used for attaching materials to Colorbond, as they are designed to go through metal without requiring pre-drilling.

It’s important to choose a material that is rigid enough to span between the Colorbond posts, as you can’t attach directly to the panels themselves, or the screws will penetrate the neighbour’s side. A good option could be marine plywood that’s been painted, as it’s durable and resistant to moisture, which is ideal for outdoor use. Alternatively, you could run 70 x 35mm pine timber horizontally between the posts to create a frame, and then mount the backing board to these horizontal timbers. This method would provide a secure base for your pool equipment and allow you to easily mount the panel without risking damage to the Colorbond panels.

Just remember that the posts for Colorbond fencing are designed to hold nothing more than the fencing itself. Any additional weight put on the fence should be minimal.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
