How do we lay a gravel and paver driveway on sand please?
Hi @fugly,
Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is great to have you with us.
Bunnings have a series of helpful D.I.Y articles that can offer some guidance on how to prepare and lay pavers:
Like you will see in these articles, the most important step is the preparation. Depending on your circumstances, this may require removal of a sufficient amount of material to allow your finished driveway to sit at the correct height relative to its surrounding. Once any excavation is completed, you will need to create a compacted base for the pavers to sit on. For this you will require a sufficient amount of road base compacted using a plate compactor.
You will then need to lay your pavers on a bed of mortar to lock everything into place and allow for levelling. Some tools you will need for this step include a rubber mallet, string line, and spirit level.
Once you have completed the laying of the pavers, you can fill around them using Easy Mix 20kg Drainage Gravel, or you might like to add decorative stones to your chosen aesthetic.
Please update us as your project commences, we'd love to see what you come up with. Also, don't hesitate to reach out if you have further questions.
