Good morning, we will be starting our landscaping and retaining walls very soon, I was hoping to kill all the weeds before they start whatbwould be the best way, something like Round-Up or organic slasher we are not sure what to use
Hi @Christian2,
Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
Glyphosate-based products, like Yates Zero or Roundup are effective for a broad range of weeds, killing them down to the roots. They work best on established weeds and are generally quick, requiring only a week or two before you see results. If you choose this route, apply it on a dry, calm day to avoid drift onto desirable plants and let the area sit for at least two weeks before landscaping.
Organic options, such as Slasher, use non-toxic acids to dry out the weed's foliage. These products are safer for the environment and break down quickly. However, they may not kill deep-rooted weeds permanently, so repeat applications may be necessary. This option is ideal if you prefer a less chemical-heavy approach, but it might require a bit more time and effort.
Glyphosate-based products will work quicker and be more effective but are classed as more hazardous. Either option will work, but if you need to access these areas regularly the less hazardous option of Slasher would be better.
Whichever product you choose to use, please ensure you read and understand the instructions on the label and wear all relevant personal protective equipment including a mask or respirator, long work clothes, enclosed shoes, gloves and eye protection.
