Hi there
I want to install a smart/electronic on my front gate but need some guidance on what to look for.
It would be to self install.
Any tips of what to look for would be great!
Thanks
Charlie
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community Charlie (@ccumbrae). It's great to have you join us.
Could we please trouble you for some photos of your gate with its current latch/lock so our helpful members can assess whether there might be a smart lock that is suitable?
Many thanks,
Jason
Hello @ccumbrae
Thanks for sharing your question about installing a smart lock on your front gate. I'm sorry but Bunnings does not currently stock smart locks for front gates. The majority of the locks are designed for front door entrances and special access points. The front sections of the locks are weatherproof to a point, but the interior part of the lock is not. The only push button lock that is compatible with a gate is the Lane Black Digital Gate Lock. This lock has a long latch, it is purpose designed for gate applications.
Let me call on our experienced members @TedBear, @Dave-1 and @Nailbag for their recommendation.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi @ccumbrae
As noted by @EricL the smart locks Bunnings range are not compatible for an all weather installation. I think you will struggle to find a smart lock thats both sides are weatherproof as typically external side is, but the internal side is not.
The closest you will get is a push button mechanical lock like this one. or the one that @EricL linked. The Lane one is better in reliability and quality but comes at a price. But being external 100% of the time its worth the investment. And if you keep it clean and lubricate the buttons, you will get extended trouble free operation.

Good Morning @ccumbrae
Well I just learned something new I thought that there would be a range of smart type locks for gates (well presumed lol ) A picture of your gate and area might help us work out a way around that you could secure a gate remotely tho.
