How to fix water leak in tap connected to main water meter?

Hi Community,

I have recently brought a property, unfortunately we discovered a leakage under my outdoor tap connected to mains water meter. I dug out the mud under the tap and found there is a water leak near the coupling (not sure what they are called). Can someone help me fix this issue? I'm good with my own hands if I know the right technique and tools. I'm really not sure what they are called and how to fix them? Could you please guide me the fix and what are the tools needed? Uploaded pictures for your reference. Please have a look. Cheers.

Re: Water leakage in tap connected to main water meter

Hello @JasonR7

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your leaking outdoor tap.

Just a friendly reminder that any plumbing work must be carried out by a licensed plumber for safety and compliance.

I'm sorry but it is difficult to identify the size and materials of the pipe that the former plumber used. To temporarily stop the leak in your pipe work, I suggest wrapping it in BOSTON 3m Black Silicone Self-Fusing Tape. Best practice is to pull to activate the tape and overlap itself on each turn.

Once you've controlled the leak, I suggest engaging the services of a plumber to properly repair the join.

If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Eric
