How to fix rendered wall patches?

Hi All

IMG_5369.jpeg

IMG_5370.jpeg

I recently rendered my home brick walls. Haven’t painted yet with all these rains. Some patches have appeared at the bottom of only one section under the window which is also covered with ceiling as per the photos. I was wondering if anyone could advise what might be the issue? As you can see in the second photo, other adjacent walls which are even more exposed to rain, do not have the patches.

Any advice is appreciated.

thanks

Re: Fix render wall

Hello @azj

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your rendered wall.

I can understand how frustrating it can be not being able to paint your finished rendered wall. Because you've left your porous unsealed rendered wall in the rain, I suspect that a bit of mould is starting to grow in it. That is why you are seeing those patches; They are an indication that water is sitting in those sections of your rendered wall.

To remove the mould and mildew growth, I suggest using 30 Seconds 5L Outdoor Cleaner Concentrate. For a thorough clean you can also use a soft bristle broom to scrub the surface of your rendered wall.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Re: Fix render wall

Great. Thanks, Eric, for the response. I'll get the cleaner and hope that will fix it. Any idea why that is the only section with this issue? I was thinking maybe it is a bigger issue of water getting trapped there and it might cause bigger issue in future. But hopefully, the cleaning and the weather shield paint can fix it.

Re: Fix render wall

Hello @azj

My best advice is to make sure that the wall has been exposed to sunny dry weather for several days before you attempt to paint the surface. If water or moisture has been trapped inside, you'll need to give it a few more days to make sure that it is free of moisture and water. Otherwise, if painted too soon the water inside your wall will push the paint off the surface.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
