Hi guys,
Thank you firstly for holding this forum.
I'm looking to reconstruct a pergola which originally had round pole/post.
I would like to change to Bolt Down anchor such as pryda-post-anchor-bolt-down
I've got some high-strength-concrete-mix
Is it sufficient to just wire brush the hole before pour in concrete?
Just wondering whether I can use cast in place bolt (not sure which product) or do i need to wait for concrete to set then use dynabolt. If the later, How long do I have to wait before I can drill in dynabolt please?
Thanks again.
Hello @Vegemite
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your pergola.
Before you begin, I suggest checking the local council's rules and regulations regarding building a pergola on your property. They will probably have height and size restrictions that must be adhered to.
Using the Pryda Post Anchor Bolt Down w Washer 90mm M10 for your post is possible, however, I suggest engaging the services of a draft's person to draw up a design for your pergola. They will be able to specify how deep the bolts need to go and if using the high strength concrete is enough to hold the post in place.
Sometimes the current concrete base is not enough, and it might turn out that you'll need to cut into it to pour a footing. Only the drafts person would be able to tell you if this is necessary, plus, they will also be familiar with the local council's rules and regulations regarding building a pergola near your home.
Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How to build a pergola frame
