Hi There,
I'm planning to build a DIY composite deck for my extended alfresco area. Currently, there's just sand on the ground. Could you provide a step-by-step guide and list the materials required for this project?
Thank you in advance
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @amirthapa. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about constructing a deck.
Building a low-level composite deck over sand is a great project, but it does require proper planning and preparation. The key steps involve preparing the ground, laying a solid base, constructing the frame, and installing the composite decking. Since you’re starting with sand, you’ll first need to stabilise the area, which might involve compacting the sand and laying a geotextile fabric to prevent weeds. Next, you’d add concrete pads or concrete in footers to create a stable foundation for your deck’s framework.
For a detailed step-by-step guide and advice on materials, I recommend checking out our comprehensive guide on How to build a deck.
