How to build a simple wooden mailbox?

20240825_170642.jpg

Hi, I'm looking to make a similar postbox to this. Simple, wooden and one where the slot is big enough to recieve an A4 letter.

I am a complete novice with basic tools so the simpler the better.

Thank you!

Re: How to build a simple wooden mailbox?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @philipmkeane. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about building a letterbox.

That sounds like a great project for a beginner! The mailbox design you've chosen is straightforward and should be easy to build with basic tools. I've put together a rendering to help guide you through the construction process. You'll mainly need some treated or hardwood timber, a saw, screws, and a drill. Make sure the slot is at least 30cm wide to fit A4 letters comfortably. You'd likely find quite a few detailed plans out there if you were looking for step-by-step instructions.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: How to build a simple wooden mailbox?

Thanks Micthell - this is great!

I was looking for step by step guides actually, as I've already tried once but, being a beginner, my skills weren't quite up to the challenge.

Thank you so much

Unfortunately, we don't have any guides on constructing a timber mailbox @philipmkeane.

Let me tag @r23on and @Brad to see if they can point you in the right direction.
