Hi, my backyard has a retaining wall as shown below, I would like to install a fence similar to what you can see in the screenshot. I'm just not sure how to install / attach the fence posts, or if there is maybe a better idea for fencing off this area
Cheers, Julian
Hello @julian27845
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about adding a fence to your retaining wall. Before you begin, I suggest having a look at the rules and regulations of your local council regarding putting up a fence near your retaining wall. There might be requirements regarding height and material type to be used in such situations.
I also noticed that you have an Everhard Ezy drain installed right next to your retaining wall. This is something you'll need to take into consideration if you are installing concrete footing for your fence. If water pools near this area, it will make the soil soft and therefore it will affect your fences stability.

Hi Eric, just a follow up, I attached the fence, went fairly well, it's level at the top. I noticed after I finished that some of the sleepers were not all even, so it's slightly leaning forward in the middle but not really noticeable
Just wanted to say thanks, this was my first project for the home and I'm happy with how it turned out, I appreciate the advice, thanks again
Cheers, Julian
Very well done, it is good that youve used long extensions to bring the post down to the 3rd sleeper as this will provide a lot more support. I was going to suggest (when i first clciked the post) using the 50x50 aluminium posts that Bunnings has with the tabs welded to it with some extra batten screws through the post, but what you have done is just as good!
Hello @julian27845
Thank you so much for posting that update. The fence looks good and secure.
We look forward to seeing your next project.
