How to add a divider to screen a heatpump?

Hi team,

I have a small deck and outdoor area that I want to add some character to. At the moment there is a heatpump fan and a dryer on the side of the lounge (model house photo inserted below). I want to add a partition to hide the dryer/heatpump - so it kind of feels nicer when I hang out there.

Im looking at wooden slats like this, possibly a bit taller.

I saw this on the bunnings website but no idea how to install it on the deck? https://www.bunnings.co.nz/williams-trellis-1800-x-1500-x-10mm-shorts-oriental-privacy-screen_p89126...

Any thoughts and ideas welcome! Thanks in advance.

Re: Divider or partition idea for deck

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @diybeginner29. It's great to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about installing a partition on a deck.

The privacy panel you’ve linked to is a great option for adding character to your outdoor space while concealing the dryer and heat pump fan. However, it’s important to first check the manufacturer’s specifications for both the heat pump and dryer. These appliances often have specific requirements for airflow and clearance to operate safely and efficiently. Ensure the screen doesn’t block airflow or encroach on any required setback zones.

For installation, you can attach the privacy panel to your deck using timber posts secured to the deck’s structure. Use galvanised or stainless steel brackets to fix the posts to the deck, ensuring they are sturdy and weather-resistant. The panel can then be screwed or bolted to the posts. If you’d like a taller partition, you can add additional framing above the panel for extra height.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
