I have so far built a 5 x 3.5 meter merbau decking frame. The joist you see are spanned 3.5 meter and holding with joist hanger at both end plus 2 decking joist mini feet in between under the joist and concrete. My question is how many concrete bolts should I put per joist? My joist are 140x45 H3 MGP10.
Hi @iffihyd,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
Nice work with your frame, it's looking good.
There's not a definitive amount I can point to as they are just holding the deck in place, they aren't supporting it in the same way the pedestals are.
I'd suggest 2-3 along every second joist is a good amount.
Let me know what you think.
Jacob
Thanks for the feedback. I put total 3 on each joist, 2 on one side and the 3rd in the middle on the other side of the joist. Thanks to the hammer drill which made those concrete holes with such an ease. Here its how it looks now.
Also where there was no joist feet possible I put 10/20mm packing spacers just to keep the joist lift up from the ground. That way they stay dry.
Hi @iffihyd,
Did you try to upload a photo? If so, it hasn't come through. I'm happy to help out if you need it.
It sounds like your deck is now solidly anchored and has some room to breathe, I'm glad to hear it worked out well and you're happy with the result.
I can't wait to see the deck once the boards are on. Don't forget to update us once it's all done.
Jacob
Photos are def updated in my previous message. Decking boards started to come alive, 12 out of 36 done so far.
