Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @millarrodney33. It's great to have you join us, and many thanks for your question on calculating costs.
To get a basic answer to your question, you simply times the cost per linear metre by how many metres you need. $3.50 x 16 = $56.
In reality, when you go to buy the timber, it does still cost $3.50 per meter of length, but you'll need to pick sizes to suit your project. You might want six lengths of 90 x 35mm F5 Pine timber at 2.7 metres long. Depending on what lengths of timber you want to work with or what is available, it will alter the price slightly, especially if there is a lot of wastage per length.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
