Hi Everyone,
My gate lock is not working properly, can only lock from inside.
I am hoping to fix it myself.
Is it an easy job to repair or replace a new one? Any tips to replace a new one will be appriciated.
Or do I really need to get gate people or locksmith to do it.
Thanks in advance.
When you say it doesn’t lock what happens? depending on that we can see how to fix it
When I put the key in and turn it around, it just does nothing.
Hi @ShirleyL,
Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
It's great to see you've already had @J-P jump in to assist.
By the sounds of it, the locking mechanism has failed. This could be for a variety of reasons including springs losing tension, internal parts wearing down and overall wear and tear.
The simplest fix is to replace it with a new LokkLatch General Purpose Gate Latch. There's not much to it, you'll just need a drill with a phillips head bit to remove the old lock and install the new one. The instructions will show how to set things out and you may even be able to use the same screw holes.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

The ones I hav, the lock is meant to avoid you flipping the latch up to unlock gate. The key rotation doesn’t flip the latch up.
so if yours is same mechanism, that key rotation will only limit the ability to move latch up or locking it in place. Try moving the latch with both key positions. On the other side you will have a push button that will lock and unlock with key
