Hey all
Looking for some guidance on how to repair/replace damaged downspout. Recently discovered it when I removed some of the top soil.
Cheers
Hi @deepfriedMango,
To replace the damaged downspout, you'll need to purchase a new section of downpipe in the correct size. To match the existing bend, you’ll need to make pie cuts in the new pipe so it can be shaped to the correct angle. Once aligned, secure it in place with pop rivets and seal the joints with silicone. Since the current downpipe is cemented in place, you might be able to carefully back it out and insert the new section. However, if it's firmly fixed, you may need to break the cement and patch it up afterward.
Just be aware that drainage work, including connecting stormwater pipes, typically requires a licensed plumber. It’s worth checking your local regulations before proceeding.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
