hi all
i wish to add a decking between house and pool and have chosen ekodeck as very termite prone here in Darwin. The pavers are uneven and my fans are low so wish to keep profile as low as possible. Seeking suggestions for best approach. Can I use steel frame with builders wedges to level up on top of pavers, or pull up some pavers to insert stirrups. Other ideas?

It sounds like you're on the right track with your plan to use Ekodek, which is a great choice given your concerns about termites in Darwin. Given the uneven pavers and low clearance, your best option would likely be to use steel purlins or joists to support the decking. Steel is durable and resistant to termites, which is ideal for your location.
Ekodek has specific clearance requirements to ensure proper ventilation and drainage underneath the deck. It needs a minimum of 40mm ground clearance with good drainage or 90mm without it. If you choose to level the pavers using builder's wedges, be mindful of the clearance requirements, as it may be tricky to achieve the necessary height while keeping the profile low. Alternatively, pulling up some pavers and using stirrups could provide more flexibility to ensure the right clearance. Just make sure to ensure good drainage and ventilation under the deck to prevent any issues down the line.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
