Do you need approval for timber deck?

Wanting advice on building a deck do I need council approval, wanting it out near my pool so is 400mm high a good height

Approval processes around Australia vary significantly from council to council. The best place to determine whether you require approval is by speaking with your council themselves. Depending on the size of your deck and the type of construction, it might require permission.

A clearance of 400mm under your deck would be a good ballpark figure. Once again, though, check with your council as they might have specific height requirements.
