Can you cut Matrix screens down to size?

hello, I’ve purchased and had installed beautiful timber deck and purchased at the same time 2406 x 1206 garden screens.

My problem is that the screens are now too long!

can I cut them down with an angle grinder and put a new metal top on to secure. ?

Re: Can you cut Matrix screens down to size?

Hello @Carol1954

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. Thank you for joining us and sharing your question about cutting Matrix screens.

If you've purchased a Matrix screen, you can cut it with an ordinary hand saw. If you want to cap the cut end, you can use the Matrix 1820mm Slate Grey Fence Panel J Channel Piece. However, if you wish to put a frame around it to make it look neat, I recommend using Matrix C Channel Frame Kit 2410x1205mm in your preferred colour. Please note that this is a special order item and must be ordered at the Special Orders Desk. Make sure to indicate the colour that you want.

If you need more advice or information, please let us know.

Hi Eric, can you use a circular saw? If so what type of blade would you use?

or what type of handsaw?

Hello @JackieF

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about cutting the matrix screen.

I don't recommend using a circular saw when cutting Matrix panels as there is a great risk of cracking the panel. If you wish to use a power tool, I suggest using a jig saw with a standard cutting blade for timber. Make sure that both sides of the panel are clamped securely along the cutting direction.

Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask when working on your prject.

If you have any other question we can help with, please let us know.
